Bringing together People of Good Will

Without social welfare, more than a quarter of the population of the European Union
would today be living below the poverty line.

The ethical position of the French Food Banks and their rapid development attracted
increasing interest in other European countries. The European Federation of
Food Banks was established in September 1986.

It brings together the experience of the Food Banks in each country in order to find
appropriate solutions to the different problems related to hunger.

It combines their forces to
- represent national Food Banks in the dialogue with all organizations and authorities
  capable of providing assistance;
- influence public decision-making toward optimal use of food surpluses.
