Cibus Food Saving: 2023 results

At the end of Cibus International Food Exhibition 2023, Banco Alimentare recovered 7 tonnes of food!

High-quality food products that, within a few days, were redistributed to partner organisations in Emilia-Romagna taking care of those in need.

The food donated by the exhibitors at the end of the event was recovered by volunteers of Banco Alimentare and redistributed to charitable organisations helping people in need in Emilia-Romagna.

7 tonnes of food were recovered by Banco Alimentare at the end of Cibus, the International Fair of the Made in Italy agro-food industry, which took place in Parma on 29 and 30 March 2023. For the fifth consecutive year, the partnership between Banco Alimentare and Fiere di Parma was renewed to realise the Cibus Food Saving initiative: 100 companies chose to adhere and donate surplus food. In this way, food still in perfect condition and of excellent quality was saved from becoming waste and will be redistributed to some of the more than 700 charitable structures affiliated with the Banco Alimentare of Emilia-Romagna and supporting 125 thousand people in need.

We are proud to have renewed our partnership with Fiere di Parma, which organised the Cibus Connect event.” says Stefano Dalmonte, President of Banco Alimentare Emilia Romagna. “We would like to thank the various companies that chose to join the initiative and allowed us to recover many tonnes of food still in perfect condition. We would also like to thank all the volunteers of the Banco Alimentare warehouses in Imola and Fontevivo, those of Fondazione Banco Alimentare ONLUS, and the many young people who dedicated an afternoon to collaborating in this great work of solidarity“.

26 volunteers of the Banco Alimentare were involved in the Cibus Food Saving initiative: the 7 tonnes of food recovered are equal to 14.91 tons of non-emitted CO2 and 14,000 thousand meals that will be redistributed by charitable organisations to people in need in the area.
