FoodCloud supports the national effort to provide food to communities across Ireland. Usually they deliver 160,000 meals equivalent weekly to more than 500 charities. The focus of the organization is to maintain these services: transport, warehouse and delivery operations.
“We are now in a two week period, minimum, where our behaviour and movements will be restricted and we foresee an unprecedented shift in the need for food distribution across communities, unlike anything we have experienced before. I acknowledge the enormous effort of the Government, our stakeholders, community and business partners. But we need to do more. We urgently appeal for accelerated support in terms of food and funding to ensure our services, and the supply chain for food distribution is sustained during this pandemic. No-one should go hungry during the Covid-19 pandemic. We need to come together at a time when we are forced to be apart, to ensure that every member of our society has access to good food.” says Iseult Ward, CEO of FoodCloud.
Moreover, FoodCloud has been preparing to meet the additional demand for food parcels. To do so, they established new strategic partnerships with community organisations. They are working to secure a consistent supply of ambient food and essential products.
