Nestlé steps up with FEBA to help communities across Europe, Middle East & North Africa

Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic across Europe, Middle East and North Africa (EMENA), Nestlé stepped up its support to FEBA members and other charities across the region to help them maintain operations and handle increasing demand.

As part of the Nestlé Cares program, Nestlé partnered with the European Food Banks Federation to set up a Nestlé employee donation campaign. Through a dedicated platform, Nestlé employees across EMENA could directly support local FEBA members and other charities with a monetary donation and Nestlé committed to double each employee donation to increase its impact.

Throughout the campaign, more than 1.000 Nestlé employees raised a total of 52.366,78 Euros for FEBA members and other charities in 26 countries. Considering the donation matching by Nestlé, the final amount raised in the campaign exceeded 100.000 Euros.

A high number of individuals and families continue to face food insecurity as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Nestlé will continue to leverage its strong partnerships with the European Food Banks Federation, its members and other charities to tackle this issue and assist the most vulnerable throughout this critical period.

“The COVID-19 crisis has brought not only grief and suffering, but also a new food emergency. For a company like Nestlé, this is unacceptable. Since the start of the crisis, Nestlé has donated more than 14 million portions of food and drink products to enable charities and Food Banks across EMENA to support the most vulnerable. This successful campaign in collaboration with FEBA shows the positive impact we can achieve when we join forces with our employees to support local communities in times of critical need. We will continue to do our part to fight hunger during COVID-19 and beyond.” stated Bart Vandewaetere, VP Corporate Communications & Government Relations, Nestlé EMENA.

"We are grateful for the campaign promoted by Nestlé EMENA because it provides a support to FEBA members and other charities in 26 countries. The positive collaboration that has been going on between Nestlé and our members at national level for years has achieved another extraordinary result. This is a tangible sign that goes beyond borders and shows that each person, with his or her own contribution, can be a protagonist in the construction of a more cohesive and sustainable society." stated Angela Frigo, Secretary General, European Food Banks Federation.
