Herbalife Nutrition & FEBA partnership

European Food Banks Federation (FEBA) launches a new partnership with Herbalife Nutrition and the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF) with the common goal of collaborating to preventing food waste and reducing food insecurity.

Herbalife Nutrition connected with FEBA in the context of its ‘Nutrition for Zero Hunger’ initiative, a comprehensive global program focusing on critical resources and expertise to address increased access to healthy foods, community development to reduce food insecurity and nutrition education to help reduce malnutrition: an ambition that aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal #2 – Zero Hunger.

The partnership consists of significant funding to support FEBA Members in Austria (Wiener Tafel), Estonia (Toidupank), France (Fédération Française des Banques Alimentaires), Germany (Tafel Deutschland e.V.), Ireland (FoodCloud), Italy (Fondazione Banco Alimentare ONLUS), Lithuania (Maistobankas), Norway (Matsentralen Norge), Poland (Federacja Polskich Banków Żywności), and Spain (Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos) with their operating expenditures such as personnel costs, infrastructure, rent and utilities, equipment, training costs, and communication activities.

The economic support is essential for the FEBA Members continue to face increasing societal, environmental, and economic challenges since the start of the pandemic, with increased food insecurity as a result of the war in Ukraine and extreme climate change events, and a rising cost of living for families and individuals.
Food Banks have never been so necessary, and solidarity has never been as important as today. Thanks to this partnership, FEBA Members will be able to save more good food from becoming waste and assist charities helping people in need.

As part of the partnership, FEBA and Herbalife Nutrition may also engage in opportunities that arise, such as food collections, onboarding volunteers from the Herbalife networks to support FEBA Members at a national country level, sharing of expertise, and donations in kinds of Herbalife Nutrition products to FEBA Members.

For this purpose, on March 2023, FEBA organised a webinar inviting Herbalife Nutrition local coordinators and Food Banks’ responsible representatives from France, Germany, Italy, and Spain to introduce the partnership, present the opportunities, and facilitate the connection.
