Reducing Food Loss & Waste in the Cold Chain

FEBA participated at the Global Cold Chain Alliance – 26th European Cold Chain Conference 20 – 22 March 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.

On Tuesday 21 March 2023, on FEBA  attended the Cold Chain Reception and Dinner at the Maritime Museum in Barcelona. This was an opportunity to meet the attendees and organisers of the event. Julie Henson (Director Europe, GCCA) introduced Amanda Brondy (Vice President, International Projects, GCCA) and moderator of the panel and Joris Olbrechts (Jodifrost) the other speaker of the panel to FEBA.

On Wednesday 22 March 2023, the “Parallel Education Session” on Reducing Food Loss & Waste in the Cold Chain took place, with FEBA as a panellist. After a short introduction from Amanda Brody on the efforts of GCCA to collaborate with Food Banks and food rescue services, FEBA introduced its work, the work of members and data of FEBA as well as the relevant European legislation on food donation and to prevent food waste. This was followed by the presentation of Joris Olbrechts from Jodifrost about their collaboration of 15 years with the Belgian Federation of Food Banks. Overall, the audience was very interested in collaborating with Food Banks and offered their knowledge and insights.
