FEBA represents its members across Europe and internationally by:
- Raising awareness on the importance of food banking, food waste and loss prevention, and food insecurity
- Promoting policies and legislation to facilitate food donation while preventing food waste and reducing food insecurity and social exclusion
- Working with European institutions and international organisations, European stakeholders, and EU-level NGOs
- Convening in one single voice the common position of its members in direct engagement with policymakers and other key actors

FEBA has a network of over 350 food banks. It helps build expertise and strengthen efficiency by:
- Promoting the exchange of information
- Disseminating innovation and best practices
- Analysing European and national legislation and providing consulting services
- Organising on-site visits and peer-to-peer exchanges amongst FEBA members
- Facilitating training and knowledge exchange with FEBA Working Groups
- Teaming up with corporations, foundations, and other organisations to raise food and funds and encourage joint actions and volunteering activities
- Expanding the reach of global partnerships to more countries
- Helping strengthen new collaborations with charities, companies, and public authorities
- Monitoring compliance with FEBA values

FEBA is engaged in the development of Food Banks in new countries in line with the FEBA values.

4.Impact Assessment
In 2020, FEBA initiated the “Quantifying the Impact of European Food Banks – From Farm to Fork” project, which sought to establish a more efficient method to collect and analyse data.
The project had two primary objectives: to conduct an accurate impact assessment of European food banks and to gather information on the long-term effects (both intended and unintended) resulting from their operations.
As a result of this project, FEBA launched the online Observatory on Food Donation in October 2020. Since then, FEBA has supported its members in using the detailed data collection platform and has continuously improved its technical features.
