Within the framework of World Food Day, 16 October 2025, FEBA successfully concluded the workshop “Food Surplus Management – Social, Economic, Ecological Values and Food Bank Practices”, organised in Tirana by the Albanian Food Bank.
The workshop was held under the FoodCLIC project, an EU-funded initiative fostering resilient and just urban food environments. As one of the project’s broadening cities, Tirana is exploring innovative city–food bank collaborations to strengthen urban food surplus redistribution — ensuring that food reaches people in need while supporting sustainability and local resilience.
The event brought together public institutions, businesses, and partner organisations, and we were honoured by the participation of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and a representative of FAO — all committed to building a more sustainable food system with less waste and greater solidarity.
Thank you to all participants who contributed to this inspiring dialogue on creating a future with stronger community cooperation, reduced food surplus, and enhanced social inclusion. At FEBA, we believe that connecting cities, food banks, and local stakeholders is key to unlocking the social, economic, and ecological value of food surplus — turning challenges into opportunities for both people and the planet.
