About General Mills

For nearly 160 years, General Mills has been making food the world loves while strengthening the communities it serves. Home to brands such as Häagen-Dazs, Old El Paso, and Nature Valley, the company is driven by the belief that food should delight people’s lives while contributing to more sustainable and resilient food systems.

A Shared Commitment to Reducing Food Waste and Hunger

Reducing food waste and alleviating hunger are central to General Mills’ global sustainability strategy. The company has committed to cutting food waste in its operations by 50% by 2030 and has already achieved zero waste-to-landfill across all owned production facilities. Beyond operations, General Mills delivers tangible community impact through large-scale product donations, employee volunteering, and hunger relief initiatives worldwide.

Strengthening FEBA and Its Network

In Europe, General Mills’ philanthropic support helps ensure FEBA’s operational continuity, strengthening essential staff capacity and infrastructure while enabling the federation to respond flexibly to evolving food insecurity challenges.

General Mills also supports FEBA’s flagship initiatives, including the FEBA Annual Convention. In 2025, the Convention in Dublin brought together 129 delegates from 27 countries to exchange knowledge on sustainability and food banking. In parallel, General Mills supported FEBA’s digital Knowledge Ecosystem, enabling Food Bank leaders to share insights and best practices across the network , as well as the Elevating Narratives Brand and website redesign.

Innovation and Local Impact

In 2024, General Mills co-launched the FEBA Innovation Grant, supporting pilot projects in Hungary, Greece, and Ireland that explore new approaches to food recovery and service models.

Across France, the UK, Spain, Greece, Ireland, and Switzerland, General Mills’ support has helped fund fresh food access, logistics, infrastructure, large-scale food collections, and capacity-building initiatives while also reducing food waste and associated CO₂ emissions. Surplus food donations and employee volunteering further transform commitment into action.

A Partnership for Systemic Change

Together, General Mills and FEBA are building more resilient food systems across Europe by reducing food waste, strengthening food security, and investing in innovation.

“Our support for FEBA goes beyond financial commitment; it reflects our desire to help build resilient, sustainable food systems across Europe.”– Charlotte Breil, External Relations Director, General Mills Europe-Australia
