Labelling, Traceability, and WFD Implementation: Key Policy Issues Discussed by FEBA Members at EU Working Group

During the December EU Working Group, the FEBA Policy and Advocacy Team invited Members to provide inputs on several policy issues relevant to the food donation process.

During the December EU Working Group, the FEBA Policy and Advocacy Team invited Members to share inputs and recommendations on several policy issues relevant to the food donation process. Balázs, our Senior Network Development Advisor, provided the foundational background for the discussions on labelling and traceability. Using Mentimeter polls, Members were able to express their opinions and insights regarding these issues. Additionally, the FEBA team asked Members to provide feedback on the state of play of their national advocacy strategies for implementing the revised Waste Framework Directive and how FEBA could best support these efforts. The meeting concluded with the team detailing the initiative to develop a Memorandum of Understanding on the deployment of the Harvard Policy Atlas. During this last section of the Working Group, Members who already launched the project in their country, or are currently in the process of doing so, including the Austrian Federation/Die Tafel Österreich (Alexandra Gruber) and FoodCloud (Emily Fitzsimons), shared their experiences.

FEBA is eager to advance these critical discussions, that’s why we invite our Members to take part in the first working group of 2026, Tuesday, January 13.
