FEBA Annual Convention 2025

An inspiring gathering to bridge tradition and technology

The FEBA Annual Convention 2025 took place from 18–20 June at the historic Trinity College in Dublin, bringing together over 130 participants, including food bank leaders, partners, and policy advocates from across Europe and beyond.

Under the theme “Bridging Tradition and Technology: Innovating in Food Banking to Build Resilient Communities”, the event underscored the vital role food banks play nowadays. As FEBA CEO Esteban Arriaga Miranda noted in his opening remarks, “In a time of mounting geopolitical and environmental challenges, food banks represent not just a response but a resilient and meaningful solution.”

Key moments from the Convention included:

  • The launch of the Global Food Donation Policy Atlas in Ireland and Poland, a collaborative effort between Harvard Law School’s Food Law and Policy Clinic, The Global FoodBanking Network, and FEBA, offering tailored policy recommendations to support food donation.
  • A compelling keynote by Mairead McGuinness, Former European Commissioner, who spoke of food as a fundamental right and emphasised the importance of collaboration in times of crisis.
  • A moving address by Katriona O’Sullivan, author of Poor, who highlighted how addressing food insecurity is about restoring dignity and strengthening communities.
  • The inspiring presentation of Ukraine’s FoodTruck Project – “Food without Borders” by the Ukrainian Food Banks Federation, showcasing the delivery of over 270,000 hot meals since February.

The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of Tesco IrelandGeneral Mills, and Brambles, with special appreciation to FoodCloud for their partnership and ongoing commitment.

The Convention reaffirmed that FEBA’s strength lies in its network — one driven by dedication, collaboration, and an unwavering belief in the power of food banks to bring hope and impact where it’s needed most.
