ICG and FEBA: Scalable Philanthropy for Food Security

Spread the word

ICG, a FTSE100 global alternative asset manager, has made social impact a core part of its corporate identity through its strategic charitable giving initiatives. In partnership with The Giving Department, ICG has developed a robust and purpose-driven approach to philanthropy, focusing on food security, educational opportunity, and social mobility across its global footprint.

Since 2010, The Giving Department has been helping businesses and philanthropists design and implement high-impact social strategies. By combining strategic funding with deep engagement, The Giving Department ensures that every philanthropic investment maximizes its potential for positive change. Together, ICG and The Giving Department have created a model of corporate philanthropy that is strategic, transparent, and community-focused – setting a benchmark for how businesses can drive meaningful social impact at scale.

A History of Solidarity

ICG has been a valued partner of the European Food Banks Federation (FEBA) since 2022, providing annual donations that have supported the daily operations of several FEBA members. These contributions have played a key role in helping Food Banks across Europe combat food insecurity and reduce food waste.

Through this support, ICG has helped strengthen operational capacity and sustain activities that directly contribute to FEBA’s mission of reducing food insecurity in Europe through food waste prevention.

Million Meals Campaign

In 2022, ICG launched its Million Meals initiative to support charities providing free meals to individuals and families in need due to the cost-of-living crisis and food insecurity. The initiative is growing in scale each year, with a total investment over three years of £1.69 million. In 2025, the programme enabled its partner organisations to source and deliver food

to nearly 8,000 charities working on the ground across 12 countries. From 2022, this campaign has delivered over 3.5 million meals to more than 300,000 individuals.

FEBA is proud to be one of the 10 partners of the “Million Meals” initiative, playing a key role in supporting the distribution of 150,000 meals across seven European cities.

Nature of the Partnership

The partnership between ICG and the European Food Banks Federation (FEBA) is founded on a shared commitment to creating scalable social impact through strategic, long-term collaboration.

ICG’s philanthropic efforts are carefully selected to reflect its corporate priorities, particularly food security, inclusion, and community resilience. Supporting FEBA aligns seamlessly with ICG’s broader social goals, including addressing global hunger (aligning with UN SDG 2 Zero Hunger) and supporting cohesive responses to cost of living crises.

ICG’s support goes beyond financial contributions. The Million Meals initiative, for instance, combines grant-making with deep employee engagement. Over 35% of ICG staff contribute their time in volunteering, fundraising, and awareness efforts, fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose. This blend of capital plus community involvement strengthens both FEBA’s operations and ICG’s internal culture.

Grounded in multi-year commitment, the ICG–FEBA partnership benefits from predictable funding that allows for planning and scaling. By year three, the Million Meals programme distributed 150,000 meals across seven European cities facilitated through FEBA’s network
