European Food System Framework Initiative- The position of FEBA and its members

This paper aims to communicate in a concise manner the position of the European Food Banks Federation (FEBA) and its members on the key components of the Sustainable Food System Framework Initiative proposed the European Commission. It builds on the information transmitted through the corresponding Inception Impact Assessment.

The publication highlights how the activities of Food Banks can facilitate the transition towards a more sustainable food system required to tackle climate and environmental-related challenges, and further reiterates the repercussions of the  COVID- 19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine on this development. In six points, FEBA and its members make propositions on how to use the momentum to create a more sustainable and resilient food system capable of coping with the current three-fold crisis.
