Head of Policy

Summary

FEBA is seeking an outstanding leader as our new Head of Policy, a vitally important role in our efforts to achieve our ambitious policy goals. Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Policy is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the organization’s policy and public affairs efforts and establishing long-range goals, plans and policies to engage with governments, stakeholders, and others. The Head of Policy influences social and environmental policy in Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy delivery

  • Develop a policy strategy, in line with FEBA’s organisational goals and activities.
  • Lead and build a Policy Department in line with FEBA’s strategic plan.
  • Monitor external developments that may influence our policy activities, such as statements
    made by important stakeholders or new policy announcements from within the EU, and
    advise accordingly.
  • Lead high-profile political campaigns and public affairs strategies that achieve results.
  • Demonstrate outstanding political instincts and can you demonstrate the ability to
    communicate complex information quickly and clearly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EU policymakers, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to promote FEBA’s policy priorities.
  • Represent FEBA in external forums, including meetings, conferences, and working groups, to communicate our organization’s stance on key policy issues.
  • Monitor and analyze EU legislative and regulatory developments related to food security, nutrition, and social welfare, and provide timely updates and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within FEBA to ensure alignment between policy goals and organizational objectives.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for FEBA in the media and public forums, effectively communicating our mission, values, and impact to diverse audiences.

Member collaboration:

  • Work closely with FEBA members to foster collaboration, share information, and strengthen their national policy impact.
  • Create and share regular updates, best practices, and relevant information among members.

Representation:

  • The Head of Policy represents FEBA externally with high-level external partners such as policy makers, governments and stakeholders.
  • Develops global and European public policy partnerships to advance FEBA’s mission.

Advocacy:

  • As a recognized policy leader, the Head of Policy will bring the expertise and agency to initiate bold initiatives in the EU policy arena, specifically in areas of interest for FEBA.
  • Implement the public affairs strategy developed.

Role: Head of Policy

Location: Brussels, based at FEBA’s head office

Contract period: Full-time permanent contract

Reporting to: The chief executive

Salary: € 66.000 pa
