Fédération Française des Banques Alimentaires participates at Salon International de l’Agriculture 2023 (SIA)

The Fédération Française des Banques Alimentaires was present for the 11th consecutive year at the 2023 International Agricultural Show. Six volunteer cooks were present each day to cook nearly 350 meals distributed on the streets to homeless or sheltered people from 300kg of agricultural products donated by Solaal. Four associations came to help the volunteers prepare the meals: Corot Entraide, Foyer de Grenelle, Les Enfants du Canal, et Centre Social Breton.

Four agreements were signed, an opportunity to seal in the long term the common will to fight against food waste.  With Cop1, an association fighting against student precariousness, Association des Membres de l’Ordre de Mérite Agricole, “Manifesto for Food Sovereignty” for the most deprived with Fnsea, Solaal and La Coopération Agricole and lastly Cargill, a company specialising in the supply of food ingredients.

Three highlights took place :

The Food Banks and the General Management of the Rugby World Cup France 2023 met at the Salon de l’Agriculture. It was an opportunity for Laurence Champier, the Federal Director, to reaffirm the pride of the Food Banks to be an Official Member of the Rugby World Cup and to insist on their common values such as Donation, Solidarity and Collection.

Jacques Rivoal, President of the Rugby World Cup France 2023, reaffirmed the importance of this cooperation which responds to the will of both actors to make this world event a success in terms of environmental and social impact. By collecting unsold food at the 48 matches of the Rugby World Cup, the Food Banks and the Rugby World Cup France 2023 contribute together to the fight against food waste and preserve resources. To seal once again this beautiful collaboration, France 2023 wore the Orange Vest of the Food Banks, which received in return the oval ball of the Rugby World Cup!
