First meeting of the FEBA EU Working Group in 2022

On 8 February 2022, 19 Food Bank representatives from 15 EU Member States gathered online for the first meeting of the FEBA EU Working Group (EU WG) in 2022.

The first item on the agenda was a recap of the group’s activities and contributions during the previous year. Besides organising 9 online meetings with more than 160 participants, FEBA drafted 8 EU Monitoring Reports covering the most important developments on EU level and submitted contributions regarding open public consultations and surveys on relevant topics. The “FEBA EU Working Group. 2021 report” as well as released documents can be accessed via the new FEBA Publications Library.

Leaving 2021 behind, key happenings of 2022 were highlighted, among them announcement of the European Year of Youth to foster the engagement and participation of young people in building a better, greener, more inclusive, and digital future, and the new mandate (2022-2026) of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste for which FEBA again has been selected as a member.

To collect and exchange insights, FEBA asked its members of the EU WG to discuss questions regarding the planning and implementation of REACT-EU and the ESF+ in the respective countries, and challenges and opportunities related to food donation and national and EU level.
