Food Bank Greece inaugurates a new Food Bank

On Friday 25 February the inauguration of the Food Bank of Epirus in Ioannina was held by the President of the Food Bank of Athens, Mr. Panagis Vourloumis. The event was attended by the Mayor of Ioannina Mr. Elisha Moses, representatives of food companies of Epirus and supermarket chains.

The initiative for its establishment belongs to Mr. Konstantinos Papageorgiou from Arta, president of the company PTL and the Food Bank of Athens. Papageorgiou stressed that the new Food Bank will use every available amount of food to support the poorest and called on the companies to support the effort that is being launched in the region.

Greece is a member of FEBA, represented by the Food Bank of Athens, founded in 1995. Food Banks are also operating in Thessaloniki, Thessaly and Drama, with plans to establish more in other regions of Greece.
