Fresh fruit and vegetables for the Greek Food Bank

Food Bank Greece has started a cooperation with the central grocery market in Athens, to save fresh fruits and vegetables from the stores there.

The project started in early summer and is now on phase 2, which is still a pilot phase. Twice a week, the Food Bank visits the market with the truck and pick up whatever surplus is available from just one store. As time passes they will engage more and more stores, or they will even make it 3 times a week.

So far, 5 tons of food have been redistributed for human consumption, just from one store!
