Tafel Deutschland e.V. elects Andreas Steppuhn as new chairman

Andreas Steppuhn is the new chairman of Tafel Deutschland e.V. At their general assembly on 6 July 2023, 58.4% of the local Tafel representatives attending voted for the 61-year-old.

Andreas Steppuhn, who was born in Münster, has been active as a volunteer at the Tafel in various functions since 2005, and has been chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt regional association for eight years. In his new position, he succeeds Jochen Brühl, who did not stand for re-election after ten years in office.

“I would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in me and for my election as chairman of the 969 Tafel branches in Germany. Through my many years of active time in the Tafel movement, I know that there is enough to do – it is about the effective fight against poverty, food rescue, redistribution and the responsibility of politics. At the top of the political agenda must be the fully financed basic child benefit. I will do everything I can to achieve this, because social commitment, solidarity, and humanity are integral parts of my life. I would also like to thank my predecessor Jochen Brühl for the work he has done and strive to continue to lead the association into the future in the best possible way by handing it over,” said Steppuhn after the election.

For the next four years, Andreas Steppuhn will be supported by Kai Noack, Dr. Maximilian Blaeser, and Jonah Lindinger as deputies and Willi Schmid as treasurer of the Tafel Deutschland e.V. board.

For the first time, the position of youth councillor was elected to the entire board, which is now occupied by Anna-Sophia Majewska and Mika Dietrich as deputies.
