Tafel Germany joined the Global Climate Strike

Tafel Germany and its members took part in the Global Climate Strike on Friday, September 24th 2021 to point out the dramatic impact food waste has on the climate. According to a recent WWF study, approximately 40% of all the food grown worldwide goes to waste, which contributes approximately 10% of all GHG emissions. Reducing food waste is crucial in stopping climate change. By distributing food, that would be disposed otherwise, food banks actively help to protect our climate.

The strike took place two days before the election of the German Parliament. In its communication online and offline, Tafel Germany has been urging all political parties to implement efficient action on climate change.
