The French Federation of Food Banks have a new President

The Fédération Française des Banques Alimentaires elected its new President on June 24th.

This is a page that is turning for the French Federation of Food Banks, and a new chapter that is opening in a particularly tense context on the food aid front. Meeting at a General Assembly on June 24, the Presidents of the 79 Food Banks elected Claude Baland, former regional prefect, to succeed Jacques Bailet.

A teacher by training, former Prefect of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, Claude Baland is a fine connoisseur of territorial dynamics and the coordination of local networks. His arrival in the wake of an unprecedented health crisis, and in the light of a social crisis which promises to be particularly strong, is already under the sign of mobilization: “My role will be to reaffirm that of Food Banks in their capacity as a major player in the fight against food waste and food insecurity. In the current context, I will also endeavor to ensure that the network of Food Banks deploys the necessary means to face the social crisis […]” he explains.
