EU Council agreement on MFF and Recovery Package Next Generation EU

On Thursday 10 December, EU leaders agreed unanimously on the next EU long-term budget, the recovery fund and the related conditionality mechanism.

Previous negotiations have failed due to Poland and Hungary’s veto against the newly introduced conditionality mechanism, that aims at protecting the EU budget against breaches of the rule of law.

This agreement comes at the last minute, but paves the way for the EU 2021 budget and the much needed recovery money.

More information are expected after the EU Council meeting, in the meanwhile to have more information, access here.
