FEBA visit to Romania on the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of Banca pentru Alimente Bucuresti

On 7 July 2021, FEBA Secretary General Angela Frigo, was invited as a speaker to the event organised for the 5th Anniversary of Banca pentru Alimente Bucuresti(FEBA Associate member in Romania).This occasion was the first on-site visit for FEBA after more than 1 yaer of travel restrictins caused by COVID-19 pademic. Together with FEBA Secretary General, at the conference were present the President of Banca pentru Alimente Bucuresti, Gabriel Sescu, representatives from METRO and Lidl Romania and a member of the Romanian Parliament who strongly supported the adoption of a new Law in Romania to fight food waste supporting also food donation. The Conference was organised at Ambasada Sustenabilitatii in Romania, an NGO working to advocate and promote the Sustainable Development Goals in Romania.  

Moreover, FEBA visit to Romania was the occasion to meet and have an internal meeting with representatives from the local Food Banks in the growing network of the Federation of Food Banks in Romania. FEBA Secretary General had the opportunity to present the daily work and mission of the European Food Banks Federation both with its members but also with partners and supporters and the EU and International institutions to bring FEBA and the European Union closer to local Food Banks and vice versa understanding the main needs and challenges.  

It was a great opportunity for FEBA, to reinforce the relationship with its Associate Member in Romania and support its growing network of Food Banks in the country.
